Underwear Party at Mornar: Behind the Curtain

I wasn't expecting much. I even thought about giving up. The approach to the club in Vukov Spomenik is a bit spooky — Mornar looks like a place that could be either the highlight of the evening or a complete miss. I was a little more indecisive than usual when entering other spaces. But I'm glad I didn't back out.

Mornar club offers themed programmes for the LGBT audience every night, and the Underwear party is a specific category of its own. The club has two levels: downstairs, a bar and a compact social space; upstairs — a darkroom separated by a curtain, which at some point can become a playground for "action". The space is smaller than I expected, but that compactness works in its favour. You socialise quickly. It's neither dark nor bright — some golden mean where you can relax with a drink without losing sight of what you came for.

What surprised me most was the mix of guests. So diverse — younger, older, good-looking, something for everyone. And all shirtless, in boxers, briefs, or jockstraps, until everything comes off. Usually, in similar places, I notice one person. Here — several. The atmosphere is immediate, without that pretentious "unapproachable" attitude that sometimes suffocates nightlife. People are there to socialise, to have fun, to be who they are.

I was particularly impressed by a certain innocence in the behaviour. No complicated social games, no pretentiousness. With decent music in the background and a positive energy flowing through the space, this scene — which has never been my primary scene — left an exceptionally good impression. Mornar is proof that the Belgrade gay scene has places that don't need to be either too exclusive or too anonymous to be authentic.

And what happens behind that curtain upstairs? For the behind-the-scenes details — the continuation follows on my Patreon.
